2 opinions, no official diagnosis?

by Kerie, Oct 02, 2004 12:00AM
Upon the arrival of my fourth (attack), I felt compelled to seek medical intervention.....beginning this past June, I have had several severe episodes of high fever, chills and severe abdominal pain. Went to ER & had blood work (was ok), urine test, (was ok) x-ray showed gas? Continued testing with CT Scan (drank terrible red liquid & iodine through IV) ER doc came back with CT stating that one overy was riddled with cysts & my other was 6 to 7 time its normal and consistant with ovarian cancer. Sent me to an OB/GYN (my first time ever) & was told I needed a transvaginal ultrasound & pelvic, but he would not do it because I am on my menstural cylce. However, he was willing to do a topical ultrasound and stated my uterus looked perfect. As far as the many symptoms I have read about, I have approx. 3: abdominal pain with fever, change in bowel pattern over the past year (no formed stools) and a verbal statement of "consistant with ovarian cancer" from an ER doc based on my CT. I am 33 years of age, no pregnancies and worried sick......any advice or opinion you are willing to lend would be greatly appreciated! This website has been informative and helpful.

I think you need to push the pelvic u/s.  The day I went for mine I too started my period and you know what?  They did anyway!  Ya it's a little messy, but the radiologist said it was nothing she hadn't seen before.  My mass was solid and also "consistant with cancer" it was a huge mass, I had never had any problems or been pregnant and was in my mid 30's.  I had it removed a year ago and everything is fine "NO CANCER" so don't panic, but do insist on further testing it's your health do ignore your symptoms.  Good Luck Kiddo!
