Mesenteric Adenitis

by khbh, Mar 29, 2007 12:00AM
An abdominal CT scan revealed "Mesenteric Adenitis".  I am 35 y/o female and had a gastric bypass 10 months ago. I mention this because my body does not process food or medications the way it use to.  In essence, I would assume that it would leave me a little more vulnerable to bacteria etc as my food does not stay in the stomach for very long and I do not break it down like I use to. All searching on the internet does is bring more and more worry for me as they show signs and symptoms of all kinds of diseases , parasites, viruses and cancers.
The CT scan also showed a 3mm nodule in my left lung....could they be related?
Can phentermine cause this inflammation? and Why would my doctor simply refer me to a surgeon...but not prescribe antibiotics or additional testing?

You have asked several different questions related to different medical issues.  The nodule in your lung may have nothing to do with the gastric bypass and may or may not have anything to do with an infection that presently exists.  Depending on what the surgeon sees, he/she may order other tests or simply ask you to repeat a CT of the lungs in the future.  The surgeon is a good next step.
