Why were you on the patch? Are your pain issues over? Need more info.

Since you are likely dealing with chronic pain, it is important you speak to your physician regarding what medications can treat your pain and what can help you through withdrawal if you choose non-narcotic methods of treating pain.  In general acute withdrawal lasts 3-4 days and is then followed by another week or so of diminishing withdrawal.  Some post-acute withdrawal depression is common and may last for a few months.

I used the Fentanyl patch for some time as well after a series of 9 operations. The withdrawl that you are feeling after 5 days is nothing compared to what is coming.. I personally had 15 days of a pure living HELL. Suicidal thoughts, etc.. My kids are what kept me going. You willl not even begin to go throgh the true withdrawl syptoms until you are completely off the patch. I wish you the best. If you ever need to talk, which, you WILL need to talk to someone who had actually gone through this, email me,
Hopefully, I can hep..
Take care,

I believe the next strength of patch is a 20mg one. Perhaps your Doc will prescribe those for you and you can drop 10mg from 50 to two 20's and then down to one 20 along with physicians choice of another med - hydro. oxycodone, etc. - Those patches grab hold of you for awhile - and you will never get past the w/d's if you keep putting a patch on. If you need to be on maintanance narcotics you should find another one - Its been my experience that codeine is one of the easier to use and then stop using....it also doesnt leave you feeling like many of the time release formularies - and the fentanyl is right up there with methadone for rugged w/d's - -  good luck and keep posting
