Question Title: Heart or Acid Reflux?Forum: The Heart Forum

Hi, In the past couple of months, I have been having a lot of burning in my stomach and in my neck. About a month ago, I was put on 25 mg of Tenormin for SVT and an Adrenalin problem. Since taking the Tenormin, I haven't had the stomach burning much at all. Occassionally, I will still get the burning in my neck though. There isn't any pain radiating from the chest area when this happens. What leads me to believe that it has something to do with my heart is the fact that Tenormin has helped with this problem. Actually, could it be because of the Adrenalin problem and not the heart. Do you have any hints as whether this could be heart or Adrenalin related, or is it something I need to get checked out? Thanks DeDe _____ Dear DeDe, It is possible actually that the Tenormin has made your 'reflux' problem better in that stress/adreneline increase and the like are very much a problem in persons with reflux b/c it certainly makes the reflux worse. Now since it also could be your heart, you need an evaluation as such. This would initially be a history and physical to assess your cardiac risk, followed by an ecg and potentially a stress test. These decisions would be made by your physician and be based mostly on the history, because if it sounds very much like reflux and your risk for heart disease is low, then most likely that is just what it is. At that point you would need an evaluation of your reflux by a gastroenterologist if it does not settle down once the 'adreneline' and SVT and under control. Good luck and write back with more questions and information if you feel necessary.
