Dear Cathy,

Gilbert's syndrome is a benign disorder. It refers to the isolated elevation of unconjugated bilirubin. This elevation can be precipitated by fasting, stress or narcotics. Paracetamol (acetaminophen) in high doses or combined with alcohol can cause liver injury, but in small amounts is generally well tolerated. I hope you find this information helpful.
