Does this sound like gallblatter problems???

The other day I went to the emergency room for the following symptoms: 1. Dull achey pain in my upper back, No stomach pain. Felt like a flu but much worse, and nausea. I felt this way all day but got much worse after eating KFC. I have history of gallstones. The hospital labs (including CT & ultrasound) came back negective for any inflamation of the GB and no bile duct dilation. Blood and urine are fine. I did have one valid textbook gallblater attack a year ago. One note: I have had a constant upper back & neck ache for 2 weeks prior to this bad episode. My question is do I get my gallblatter removed after reading all the posts regarding problems post surgery?

All that I do no is I have 3 stones and this latest attack might be either a very sore shoulder (spasms) or an actual GB attack. I would like to hear some opinions from you out there since I respect you all for what you have experienced!

My question to you is if you have gallstones why not have it taken out?  Why live with the pain?  If you don't have it removed you could end up with more problems yet, it is not healthy to live this way and one day you might get so sick that it will be a medical emergency.  Listen to your doctor if he recommends surgery go for it.  I had mine out 6 years ago and the procedure is simple. My opinion.

It's a fact that a malfunctioning gall bladder can cause a lot of pain and make you pretty sick. Most people have only mild complications after GB removal, and even these tend to subside within the first few months after surgery. The rate of serious and long-term complications is fairly small, but it isn't zero. So you should talk to your doctor about the diagnosis and about alternative treatments.



In my case, I didn't have gall stones, but a HIDA scan clearly indicated that my gall bladder was not functioning properly. I read about drugs for dissolving stones and about some of the alternative therapies such as liver cleansing or flushing. In the end, I felt that gall bladder removal was a reasonable course of action. So far, it seems to have been a good decision. The constant aching pain and nausea are gone. My digestion was a little screwed up for the first few weeks after the surgery, but that has improved, and I don't notice any problems now.

I have to decide also whether to have my gallbladder removed.  Is there any questions that I should ask the Dr. before deciding.  And how long is the recovery after surgery?  Is it very painful?

well the problem is not me personaly it is mt father who was recently dianogsed with non hodgkins lymphoma stage 4.And has been having lots of problems with his upper right stomach.He is running high fever that won't break,vomiting,and in lots of pain.Is there a precedure that can be done without having major surgery?Being as he has cancer I here it is too risky to have any open surgery.It can cause the cancer to spread rapidly.He is now in the hospital getting morphine shots to help control the pain.My whole family is really scared.What do we do now?He has had ultrasounds,chest x-rays,abdomial x-rays and catscan.So everyone out there please say a prayer that we make it through this breathtaking ordeal.Is there any new tec- thing they can do now without surgery?I can't sit around and watch him suffer anymore.He is still to young to leave us now.He is only 52.Thank you for reading this message.Any words of wisdom email me at www.***@****
