I was asked the other day if CIDP is a form of aids. I told them no but they want actual proof that cidp has absolutely nothing to do with aids can you help my put their minds at ease?

Dear Charity,

CIDP is not a form of AIDS. CIDP is a demylinating disorder that usually follows a "run of the mill" viral or respiratory infection. Symptoms are usually a stepwise progression of weakness (affecting the arms and legs, sensory changes (usually in the hands and feet, and loss of reflexes. Diagnosis is made bclinical history, exam, NCS/EMG, and LP. Good Luck.
