my 17 month old baby is very constipated. when she tries to do her poo's she is under alot of strain. then when she does go there like rabbit pellets. she has a really good diet geting fruit and only eats brown bread. also she eats every vegtable and has lots of juice thats every day. i brought her to my doctor she told me to give her duculax but i would perfor to try and see if its her milk that she drinks thats doing it to her before i try that. she has cows milk going to bed and might wake for between 1 to 2 more bottles of it a night. so should i try a different milk or should i put her back on formala milk??

I use soy milk with my boys. They have both had problems with going. The soy milk works for them. What kind of formula was she on before. I wouldnt go back to formula, try the soy milk and see. When she wakes up at night try giving her water instead.

Yes try Soy and give her orange juice may help, plenty of cereal and bulk in her diet, let her eat cheerios they love picking them up and stuffing them in their little mouths, whole grain bread , and veggies if she will eat them. !!

You could always try the prunes in baby food for a little laxative.  That typically helps my son.

Baby food pureed prunes or prune juice always works best for my babies too. Extra water too. I also agree that you shouldn't go back to formula. I would try soy milk if you think it is the milk causing her constipation.  Also, try deceasing the amount of milk you give her and give water in middle of night instead.  Just make sure she gets minimum of 16 oz of milk per day.

Try giving her some yogurt. The small children's size (they have flavors like cotton candy, strawberry/banana, etc...) work well with my son. I can give one to him every other day and it really helps him. Not that he has a problem going lately, but when he IS constipated they really help. I had to stop giving him yogurt daily because then he'd poop TOO much!
