Constant pain and night sweats

by stephlovespeter_xo, Nov 27, 2008 09:19PM
Dear Doctor,

I don't know what is going on with my body but i know my hormones are way off. I've had a few symptoms that have concerned me but i dont know how concerning they would be to my doctor so i haven't gone to see my GYN about them. Over a year ago i had a mass, and a cyst removed from my right ovary and shortly after was diagnosed with pcos. I was without pain for quite some time post-op, now however, i'm finding my body going back to it's old ways (not as bad, but definitely not comfortable). My periods are unbearable, i am currently on a narcotic to help with the pain during my period and just within the last week i have started experiencing night sweats. My bedroom is on top of the garage, so night sweats for me is really odd as my room is especially cold during the wintertime. I had an ultrasound done in September that showed a couple small cysts, but with my increasing pains and now these night sweats.. i don't know what is going on with my body. Any ideas on what might be going on and what i can do to fix it. I am currently on birth control to prevent reoccurring cysts, as well as for birth control.. I have also had 2 yeast infections in the last month, i know you mentioned checking my sugars. Any suggestions would be greatly appreciated.

Oh, and I'm only 20 years old.

Thank you so much!

I would suggest checking all your PCOS labs including but not limited to:  FSH, LH, Estradiol, Prolactin, TSH, free T4, 2 hour glucose tolerance test with 75 gram glucose challenge, total testosterone, DHEAS, 17-OH-progesterone, AST, ALT, BUN, Creatinine, complete metabolic panel, fasting insulin, HIV 1/2, TB test, CBC.  I suggest seeing your doctor.

Sorry, is there a specific reason why i should be tested for the HIV virus? I have been with my boyfriend for 2 years and we are both monogamous.
