occular migraine what is it ?

the eye specialist did all the tests on my eyes, as this is the 3rd time I have experienced a rippling effect in my left eye, it was really strange I felt like a numbness, I also noticed that I could only see the last half of road sign, letters were missing, I panicked, for fear my sight was about to go>.. I got my sister to drive me to the eye specialist after all the tests, eyes dialated, drops etc, perifial tests both eyes, said everything is good, how can that be? there was something going on? the last episode was a month ago. Lasting 5 minutes felt longer I was panicking, after I calmed down and put on dark glasses my eyes were back to normal, he said its a age thing aswell? is this true? can I go blind with this rippling ? I am most concerned. Thankyou
