It should and usually does go down after surgery.  Mine was 900+ before and 115 after.  6 rounds of cisplatin/taxol and it was down to 8.  Been going up and down since then (2 yrs since tx).

If the CA125 test is accurate for you, yes that is good. The cancer puts out proteins that the CA test picks up. If the CA is a reliable test for you, the higher the CA, the more cancer that there is (basically, at least the more of the proteins it is putting off) Debulking surgery is done to remove as much cancer as possible. therefore, the less cancer there is, the fewer proteins it is putting off.
As I said, this is basically how it works. But for some, the CA is not a reliable test. There have been women diagnosed in the later stages with barely a rise in their CA, and others whose CA is over the roof. But as many times the surgery cannot remove everything (esp in later stages) that is why chemo is done. It helps to remove any microscopic cells that may be left.
If the CA is a good indicator for you, your onc will keep track of it and use it to determine how well chemo is working. It will also let them know if you are having a recurrence.

My CA-125 went up after my hysterectomy.  I was told by both my surgeon and my oncologist that this was common.  So, as Chris says, the number is not always reliable as a cancer marker.  I'd ask your doctor about your specific numbers.
