I'm male and I went to the health clinic less than a week ago to get a STD screening. They said that I probably had an NGU, so they gave me an antibiotic... it was either zitromax or zithromax, it was red and they gave me two pills to take at once.. and they said that one dose of it would cure whatever it was that I might have. I couldn't tell before, but now, after the antibiotic went through my system I feel ALOT better. After going through the types of NGUs I think I had Chlamydia. I must have had it for almost two years though, so I was wondering if I should worry about any side effects caused from having Chlamydia that long? And what those side effects might be? .. Also, just in case... an antibiotic like the one I took would treat oral Chlamydia at the same time too right?... sorry for asking so much at once, but I was also worried about it coming back.. once I’m treated it won't come back unless I have sex with an infected person again right?

Why do you think 2 years?  That's a long time for a man to go without symptoms.  Is that the last time you had sex?

Yes, the zithromax will cure it, and you won't get it back unless you are re-exposed.

Men don't generally have the same effects on fertility, etc., as women do, but that is a possibility.

Chlamydia isn't an oral infection, so you don't need to worry about that part.

Thank You :) Thats a relive . ... and I only had sex once in the past two years, but that person was tested about two months after we had sex and came up clean, so the last person I was with that may have been infected was two years ago. And as for the symptoms... well .. that is why after reading about Chlamydia I know that is what I had. I had almost all the symptoms on and off for a long time, but never really thought anything of it. Now that all the symptoms are suddenly gone it is really obvious to me what was wrong, and I feel ALOT better :)... I guess I’m rather oblivious.

...Should I throw out and replace all my underwear to make sure I'm not re-exposed to it that way?

Just wash them, and it will be fine.

Unless of course, you want new underwear and this is a good excuse to buy some.  :)
