Dark Spot in Low Light

by Covstu, Nov 29, 2008 02:30AM
Morning,
Yesterday I was playing indoor 5 a side when a ball was kicked near my head and made contact with my eye - like a scrape. For a little while I had a big black "spot" where I couldn't see.  I washed it out with water and it went gradually.  I thought I'd better go to A&E as it was very sore and my pupil looked odd, also when I was driving I had a greyish  I mentioned about the grey elyptical shape in my left eye below my central vision. It has disappeared. He did a few tests and put some yellow/orange stuff in my eye and gave me eye cream.  I have now realised this shape comes back in low light and I am getting worried as the doctor mentioned about a detached retina at first and then decided it wasn't.  There is an eye clinic on Monday but should I wait that long? Don't want to waste anyone's time but am worried if this will just get better naturally or get worse. Thanks

Dear covstu,

I would definitely recommend that you seek the care of an eyeMD immediately.  Only upon a complete eye examination, can the cause be elucidated.

I wouldn't wait. Get a retina exam ASAP.
