Am I beyond help at this point....?

by kerri18, Nov 29, 2008 12:18PM
I dont really know where to begin...but I have so many problems with my private areas its begining to drive me crazy. My names Kerri, I just turned 19, and I have had a yeast infection since i was about 13. i know I should have gotten it checked out BUT that leads me to another problem. I was always too embarressed to mention it because I also have some kind of very wierd deformity i dont want anyone to see. Not even the doctor. The left side of my vulva is kinda...overgrown and strectchy. Its about 4 times the size of what it should be and it makes me VERY self concious about 'down there'. Do they have corective surgeries to make it the normal size? If so how much do they cost? I also seem to have an abnormally large amount of discharge alot of the time....it depresses me knowing that i'm not normal and I cant even have sex with my boyfriend because I'm afraid of what he will think of me when he sees how big the side of my vulva is. It seriously affects my life alot.

And just to add to the problem, I've had lumps in BOTH of my breasts since I was about 12....I'm almost positive its not cancerous. They are very slow growing and its like...without them I would have any boobs at all. They are taking up the whole inside of my breasts. They make my breasts very tender, expecially right before and during my period...do you think it could affect breast feeding later in life? Because I want kids very badly but right now its looking as thoug because of all these factors put together...thats never gonna happen. If someone, ANYONE could get back to me with advice, answers, or even just some suuport...i would be SOOO greatful...I really would. Thanks so much for reading.

a lot of children are born with abnormal genitalia, dont be suprised if your parents dont already know, yes there is certanily reconstuctive surgery, as for the cost I dont know, in your case if you have insurance they would likely cover it,

You deserve to have a normal sexual life, and to know what your internal female organs look like and if they function normal do you have nomal menstural cycle.

most womens breasts are very tender before menst. that is 100% normal, the lumps you are feeling could be mamary glands or you could have cystic breasts both are normal.

You need to see a gynocologust for a full exam, trust me theres noting they havent seen, your not going to shock him, Be brave take this step, find out why your labia major is malforumed, abd get a little surgery to correct it then you can get on with your life , grow and learn about your sexuality, ( remember be safe) you may pm me if youd like to ask any more questions.

thank you So much for talking to me about this. You put my mind a little more at ease....thanks so much and as soon as I get my own place and save up money, the first thing i'm doing is going to an ob/gyn.

I see you live in  w.v. most states have free or based on income health care available check you yellow pages , call a few hospitals and ask if they know any gynecologist that take low income...help is out there you dont hve to wait you just have to resource yourself. !!!

All girls are different "down there," no 2 are the same. Thats the good thing. We are all ddifferent shapes and colours. for the discharge its probably part of the yeast infection and if not another vaginol infection which also is very normal.

let me tell you what I think. I don't think you should assume that you have a deformity at all. It is very common that one side is longer or bigger than the other, and sometimes it works itself out, anyway. (i.e. in two years you may not even see it that way any longer, or it suddenly has changed) I understand that you are really self conscious about this, but that may be another good reason to get it checked out and to get feedback from a nurse or doctor. Easier to do than fist try it with a boyfriend. As for yeast infections, they are very common in most women and especially your age and when hormones are changing a lot; the same is true with breast pain and all that. You will feel so much better after you see a gynecologist and he can either reassure you that nothing is wrong at all, or otherwise tell you what he/she thinks. most likely, you are normal. You can get this yeast infection stuff over the counter but it may be better for you to be treated with a pill that works better, and all it is is one pill.
Keep your sugar consumption down, also.

Last, and what I personally is often a culprit is the use of regular soap in the private areas. They can easily cause discharge. buy a soap-less, or really mild, un-perfumed soap or EVE makes a product that comes in a bottle. that may totally take care of your problem and even what you think is a yeast infection and may not be. That is the very first thing I would do. it's OK to use regular soap on the rest of your body.

hope this helps, kat
