Constant Headaches, feeling extremly strange and vonurable

by Sarah19734, Nov 29, 2008 03:32PM
I have been expeirencing headaches for more than 6 months now. I am a 13yr old female. I have been suffering lots of pain around the back of my head, my temples and around my forehead. I am in yr 9 at school and it is an important year, but because of the headaches, i have been missing alot of days off school because of the pain. I have tried paracetamol, ibruprofen, cocoldomol and nurophen- but nothing takes the pain away. My doctors gave me stronger tablets but even they didn't help, so i have been referred to a hospital. I went there recently and saw a pediatrician and he gave me more tablets. So far these tablets aren't helping. I am becoming extremly disorented and vonurable. Sometimes i become very angry ans start shouting- when i am usaully very quiet, I don't know where i am sometimes or i feel like i am in someone else's body. If i am around lots of people i can beome extremly upset and my hands start shaking.

Can anyone help me?
I can't take the pain anymore, and i don't like feeling like this. I try and stay positive but i just breakdown sometimes in the middle of my lessons.

If anyone can help or suggest anything please let me know,
Thankyou

Since u r so young, this could be a number of things.....ask ur dr if u could be refered to a neurologist...and check the side effects of the meds u r taking now...report the personality changes and all the other symptoms. I feel if u can see a NL u will be able to get to the bottom of ur head aches.....because of ur age, u may feel like u r being dismissed....and told it's anxeity....stress related.....unless u feel u r very stressed, and agree ok...but if not ask for a second opinion.

keep us updated!

I agree that you should definitely see a neurologist. He/she may say you have chronic migraines or something or perhaps something even more serious. but I'm not a doctor, I'm only 12yrs old. I have constant headaches as well but it's because I have chronic sinus infections- my pain is more near my eyebrows and around my eyes. Hopefully they'll figure it out. Good luck!

Thanks for the comments:

It's nice to get some feedback at last. Here's an update for today;

I had an easy day, easy lessons. I did have a 3 hour rehersal after school today but i was feeling fine. Then I rang my mum as i usaully do and i suddenly started crying on the phone because i keep forgetting where i am. I hung up the phone and was shaking and felt disoriented. A friend was trying her best to help, but i just didn't know what to do. I didn't know wether to go to the nurses office and explain what was happening or just carry on and let it pass.

I got to my rehersal and everything was fine untill the last hour. My head was pounding, i went extremly light headded and dizzy. I was really hot and my heart was beating so fast i could feel it thumping on my rib cage.

I have doubled my tablets and am now taking 2 a night. If i am feeling strange or disoriented in the mornings- should i attempt to go to school or should i go back to the hospital? I have an appiontment for Feb 09. Is that too long to wait?

Please comment and thanks for helping and suggesting ideas- it has really helped.

I would deffinatly call ur dr and geeta sooner appointment.....u should not have to wait that long......I also strongly suggest u have MRI's done....

may I also ask have u had ne trauma to the head or neck area in the past yr or so?

I don't understand y u r on meds and don't know what's wrong with u...if ur insurance allows, see about getting a 2nd opinion.

Good luck

hey Selma

Thanks for all your comments about my symptoms.

I've not had any head trauma that i know of- although I was in a car accident with my mum about 3 years ago. I didn't suffer anything nasty- just some wiplash. Do you think that could have caused it?

I'm going to ask for an earlier appiontment. Is there any specific tests or scans i should ask for?

Thanks again

Sarah
