My name is Judy and I'm old enough to be your mother, so I will talk to you as if I were speaking to my daughter. Healthy people take prozac to help balance brain chemical. To be sixteen should be a beautiful age, but it is very difficult to be a teenagers. I'ts a transitional age and teenagers do not have the coping skills needed to deal with sudden situations. They respond with attitude, anger, violence, ect...and there is a better way out if they only can hold on and learn to cope. In order to heal, you first need to accept what is wrong and know that you are a beautiful, good person who deserve the very best that life has.
To be depressed is to be very unhappy or a hormone imbalance, but depression is very treatable. The only person that can recommend and change your medication is a doctor, so if you feel that your medicine is not working, you are still under age, so approach your parents, your mom and tell her (them) that you feel your medication is not helping you, if she could contact the doctor and have the pharmacy change it. The doctor must change it, but if you feel there is something confidential you want to talk about, let us know. We will see how we can help you with the real cause of the depression and how to deal with what is really bothering you deep down inside.
Your going to be ok. Surround yourself with good people, good friends, an environment that will help you feel better and stay away from destructive behavior and you are going to be just fine....hang in there...one day at a time.
it seems as though the prozac did work for a short time for you. you have to go back to the doctor that prescribed it and ask him/her if there is something else. there are tons of low dose anti-depressant meds. I would also suggest seeing a therapist for a short time. having a safe place to talk about everything really does work. it helped me so much after i had 2 miscarriages and swore the world was totally against me, but having that safe place was key.
also spending healthy time with friends and doing other activities helps out too.
