What Could my daughter be diagnosed with?

by MiSsy_89, Nov 29, 2008 08:54PM
My Daughter is 2 years old. She Does not walk, talk or cry much. Since she was about 4 months old she would often slap her little hand against her head, and if she were to be playing with a toy she would hit her self on the head, mouth, and upper lip.  She Started crawling at about 1 year and a half.  Her height and weight are normal. She has trouble chewing her food. She had an hearing exam but it was a bit difficult to diagnose the result, i was told that she would have to get further testing done becase it seemed more like an attention problem not that she was deaf nor blind. im SO LOST!!! help!! i live in the Inland Empire and have not been able to be seen!!!

I had to google what Inland Empire was... you live in California... does her pediatrician have any advice or comments?  Can you drive to LA or some other big city along the coast that has better doctors?  Crawling at 1 1/2 years is not normal... my daughter was late in crawling... she crawled at 12 months and walked at 16 months.  Sounds like your daughter has some serious delays, that if your doctor is not helping you with that... you need a new pediatrician for your daughter!

Have you contacted California's Birth to 3 program?  It's either free or low cost and if your daughter qualifies for therapy, by federal law she needs to receive it.  You can google California Birth to 3 and find out whom to contact.  The evaluation should be free.
