I was hospitalized with renal failure not too long ago myself. It was evidently an underlying issue that I was unaware of. I still have to get up in the middle of the night, so I know what you're talking about. I would still ask for more tests if you're getting some pain that seems too low to be the kidneys. I had occasional pain but never associated it with the kidneys, because I have so much other pain in the same region of my back. I ended up in the e.r. after having been getting worse and worse nausea and unable to hold anything down, including water, for over two weeks. The e.r. doctor decided I needed to be hospitalized. After I was in the hospital past the first 36 hours, I started to feel the kind of back pain right where one expects to experience kidney pain. It seemed to be far more in my right kidney than my left kidney. I was on IV fluids for the first 72 hours. Then, I was still to push fluids the rest of the time I was in the hospital. I was still experiencing severe nausea when I was first released from the hospital for most of the remainder of the month I was in the hospital. So, I would push for more kidney tests, explaining to the doctor that one doesn't necessarily always experience pain exactly where people are expecting the pain to be for kidney issues. Just so you know, no one has ever figured out why I had renal failure in the first place. A friend of mine has been experiencing kidney insufficiency herself and similar symptoms as mine but hasn't had to be hospitalized like I was. Keep insisting that you get more tests. They should've already tested the various creatin levels for you by now. But, if they haven't done this, you should insist.
I did find something that has helped the IBS and thus reduce the pain in my colon. I am using flaxseed meal in my food. At times I'm also using some flaxseed oil on my food, too. Along with the Oregon grape and probiotics that my naturopath has me using, I am also using ONE 450 mg capsule of cascara sagrada at night before I go to bed. Don't take more, because it is very potent.
